Kala! You are but a blade of grass to me!
Come near my feet and let me tread on you.
I hold the valour of Velayutha* in my heart.
I make obeisance to the wise who uttered the Vedantha.
Have you forgotten the woe that befell the crocodile,
As the elephant appealed to the Primordial for succour?
The evil and the ignorant!
Kala! You are but a blade of grass to me!
Come near my feet and let me tread on you.

I know what befell you on your mission
To take the life of Markanda,
Surrendered to the alalam** consuming Lord.
I bid you, keep four thousand fathom away!
Manifest will I as Harinarayana in front of you.

காலருகே வாடா; சற்றேஉனை மிதிக்கிறேன் - அட (காலா)

வேலாயுத விருதினை மனதிற் பதிக்கிறேன் - நல்ல
வேதாந்த முரைத்த ஞானியர் தமையெண்ணித் துதிக்கிறேன் - ஆதி
மூலாவென்று கதறிய யானையைக் காக்கவே - நின்றன்

ஆலால முண்டவ னடிசரணென்ற மார்க்கண்டன் - தன
தாவி கவரப்போய் நீபட்டபாட்டினை யறிகுவேன் - இங்கு
நாலாயிரம் காதம் விட்டகல் உனை விதிக்கிறேன் - ஹரி
நாராயண னாகநின் முன்னே உதிக்கிறேன் - அட (காலா)
